At runtime, in an ASP.NET MVC application, on a Mac using Mono 5.4.0, I'm getting the following exception:
Could not resolve type with token 01000014 (from typeref, class/assembly System.Web.UI.ScriptResourceMapping, System.Web.Extensions, Version=184.108.40.206, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35)
However, running the exact same application on a Windows Machine using the .NET framework, there is no issue.
Upon doing a "grep", I can see that the System.Web.Extensions.dll in the GAC does NOT contain System.Web.UI.ScriptResourceMapping. However, the System.Web.Extenion.dll's in other directories (e.g. 4.5-api/ ) DO contain System.Web.UI.ScriptResourceMapping (see attached screenshot)
I've confirmed that System.Web.Extensions.dll from the GAC is being loaded at runtime when the error occurs. Because of these findings, I believe the System.Web.Extensions.dll in the GAC is built wrong and/or does not contain the proper classes/methods.
Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
Visual Studio 2017 Professional
Mono Framework Version 220.127.116.11
ASP.NET Version: 4.0.30319.42000
Also, I forgot to mention....As you can see in the grep command, "ScriptResourceMapping" is actually in System.Web.dll (not 'Extensions') in the GAC. The appears completely wrong. As you can see in Microsoft's documentation ( https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.scriptresourcemapping(v=vs.110).aspx ), ScriptResourceMapping is supposed to be in System.Web.Extensions.dll
