Description Adam Patridge 2017-08-07 22:27:43 UTC
## Steps

0. Fresh install of Visual Studio 2017 [version 15.2 (26430.16)]
1. File>New>iOS>iPhone>Single View App (iPhone) [possibly others]
2. Pair to Mac host
2. Debug (F5) application on Simulator

## Expected

App should run on Simulator on remote machine or remoted simulator

## Actual

Got an error "Info.plist not found"

After I restarted Visual Studio 2017, though, this error went away (so I am unable to reproduce it).

Thanks so much for taking the time to submit this report! I’m unable to reproduce this issue using the latest Visual Studio 2017 Preview version 15.3. Please attach the following to help us reproduce this issue:
-Detailed reproduction steps
-Version information (Help → About Microsoft Visual Studio → Copy Info)
-Logs (Help → Xamarin → Zip Logs (last 7 days))
-Optional: project to reproduce your issue
Comment 2 Adam Patridge 2017-08-08 22:20:41 UTC
I submitted the steps and version information in the original bug report. It appears it may have been a first-run issue so I cannot reproduce it any longer. Let me see if I have a recent snapshot on the affected VM that I can roll back to and try again. I'll also attach what little logs it found for the last 7 days (since it's a new install that has only created this one failing project).

Adam,

Would it be possible to capture your VirtualBox image to share? I'm unable to reproduce locally. :)

Thanks,
Pierce Boggan
Comment 7 Adam Patridge 2017-10-20 22:09:31 UTC
I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on the VM anymore (now running an older copy of VS2017's "stable" channel), but the moment I went back to my primary dev machine with the latest VS2017 [stable], it was suddenly happening there.

The error this time was a potentially major clue, though!

> Could not load Info.plist: Could not find a part of the path "/Users/adampatridge/Library/Caches/Xamarin/mtbs/builds/Clock.iOS/56153aa7253e4409fed594e5e77864b1/bin/iPhoneSimulator/Debug/Clock.iOS.app/Info.plist".

On this machine, there is no "adampatridge" user. Because of a quirk with local-only Win10 accounts, my user is "adpatri". On that previously-affected VM, I didn't have a local-only account, so it took my full name as the user: "adampatridge".

This error might be an issue with multiple Windows machines hitting the same macOS build host, when the Windows machines differ by username.
