Description John Hardman 2015-04-01 04:48:40 UTC
When using a horizontally centered Picker (HorizontalOptions is either Center or CenterAndExpand), changing the selected value in the Picker results in the text in the Picker being clipped. This happens across platforms (tested on iOS, Android and Windows Phone).

It is easily reproduced. Just tweak the FormsGallery sample to set HorizontalOptions, as below:

        Picker picker = new Picker
        {
            Title = "Color",
            VerticalOptions = LayoutOptions.CenterAndExpand,
            HorizontalOptions = LayoutOptions.CenterAndExpand
        };

Run the sample and select different values. When the selected item is longer than the previously selected item, the text is clipped.

I have checked this issue and able to reproduce this. To reproduce this issue I have followed the steps and instruction provided in bug description.

Steps I followed:

1. Open FormsGallery Sample in VS.
2. Add following line in PicerDempPage.cs constructor under Picker.

   HorizontalOptions = LayoutOptions.CenterAndExpand

3. Build and deploy the application on emulator.
4. Select item that is longer than the previously selected item.
5. Observed that the text is clipped in selected item.

Comment 2 Rui Marinho 2015-09-30 05:16:09 UTC
Should be fixed in 1.5.1-pre1
Comment 3 Parmendra Kumar 2015-10-07 14:15:13 UTC
I have checked this issue with Xamarin.Forms 1.5.1-pre1 and its working fine.

Hence closing this issue.
Comment 4 John Hardman 2017-01-11 16:01:36 UTC
This is still a problem in 2.3.3.180 - on UWP, use the keyboard to select an item in the picker, rather than using the mouse or touch.
Comment 5 Jimmy [MSFT] 2017-06-19 17:22:03 UTC
As mentioned in comment 4, this is still an issue with 2.3.5-pre3 on UWP when using the keyboard to change the picker selection instead of touch/mouse: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cum6sn49fgx93qz/App1.UWP%206_19_2017%2010_11_59.mp4?dl=0
Comment 6 dpedrinha 2017-09-13 06:01:54 UTC
2 years later, still a bug with 2.4.0.266-pre1 on Android. Not checked with other platforms.
Comment 7 dpedrinha 2017-09-13 06:05:16 UTC
Oh, and not a single HorizontalOptions work. None of them expands. Shouldn't the "expand" ones stretch it to the parent maximum allowed width?
