Description Chris Hardy [MSFT] 2014-09-07 20:28:14 UTC
On a Mac using Xamarin Studio, with both Xamarin.iOS and a console app and the strings dayName and monthName are empty when using the Thai culture. On Windows with Visual Studio console app the strings dayName and monthName have the correct day and month when using the Thai culture.

DateTime testTime = new DateTime (2014, 1, 1);

//CultureInfo culture = CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("en-GB");
//CultureInfo culture = CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("ar-SA");
//CultureInfo culture = CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("zh-CN");
CultureInfo culture = CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("th-TH");

string dayName = testTime.ToString ("dddd", culture);
string monthName = testTime.ToString ("MMMM", culture);

Console.WriteLine ("Culture name : {0}", culture.Name);
Console.WriteLine ("Day name : {0}", dayName);
Console.WriteLine ("Month name : {0}", monthName);

We are using CLDR as source of data and unfortunately data for thai-budhistics calendar are not filled yet (e.g. culture.DateTimeFormat.DayNames gives you empty values)
Thought anyone who knows Thai can contribute them.
Comment 3 Lei Bramley 2014-09-08 10:28:15 UTC
As I mentioned in the bug, it is possible to use Visual Studio and standard .net console app to get all the month and day names in Thai, could you use those to fill out the Thai Calendar fields?
Comment 4 Miguel de Icaza [MSFT] 2014-09-08 10:34:42 UTC
Hello Lei,

This would likely be a copyright violation as we do not own the data.
Comment 6 Marek Safar 2014-09-08 10:49:11 UTC
If you need complete Thai support then we are missing following data

Comment 7 Lei Bramley 2014-09-08 12:38:30 UTC
I've put a request in for this data.

In the meantime I've realised that all the DateTimeFormat properties are get/set so I've just filled them in for myself when the Thai culture is selected.

Hello Lei,

Thanks, getting this data from an organically produced source would allow us to ship this data.

Is there any update on this issue? My app is going to release and now experience this in my app when set language to Thai.
