Description David Jeske 2014-01-01 01:43:26 UTC
I've recently been having trouble with application output scrolling to the bottom everytime there is new data.

I have tried the "pin output pad" button. If it is supposed to stop the output from scolling to bottom, it does not work, or does not work reliably.

I need a reliable way to stop the application output from moving, even when there is new data added to the window.
Comment 1 David Jeske 2014-01-01 01:46:48 UTC
upon further testing, it appears the problem is that the application output snaps to the bottom when "close" to the bottom (aka, within one page, or maybe 10 lines?).

This is very frustrating behavior. When I'm trying to copy something just a few lines above the top of the window, it keeps snapping back down on my while I"m trying to select it. There is no way to select it, except to wait long enough for it to scroll more than a page away from the bottom.

Please provide a way for application output to STOP scrolling to the bottom on new data.

The "pin" is only supposed to pin the panel (so it doesn't auto-collapse), not the output content.

I don't know much about the scrolling, but I'll try to take a look sometime soon.

Pining doesn't stop the pad from collapsing, it preserves the contents - next time you run, you'll get a new pad.

Checked the issue with the builds mentioned below:

All Mac
X.S 4.2.2(build 2)
Mono 3.2.6

'Pin' is working fine as mentioned by Jeff and Michael in Comment #2 & #3

However, in this issue the concern point is scrolling of the text in the output window. David, wants some mechanism by using which, he can freeze the scrolling of the text in the window.

As mentioned by Jeff, he would be looking into this to find out some solution here. We would be re-verifying this issue again after we have solution from Jeff.

Right now, we are changing the Priority of this issue to LOW-ENHANCEMENT and keeping it assigned to Jeff.
