If i have an iPhone project and I remove (for example) the main splash image, this modification to the solution is not reflected in the simulator when i build the project again. I have to explictly clean the solution and build it, or choose the 'Rebuild' option before the stale file vanishes and my app starts up with no splash image.
mhutch pointed out that this is already handled by xbuild so when MonoDevelop switches to xbuild as the main build engine, we will automatically gain this ability to purge stale files. This is just a tracker bug for the issue.
I'm not sure xbuild supports incremental clean, but MSBuild does. During each build, it lists all the files that would be created (even if they're skipped due to incremental build). At the end of the build, it compares that to the list from the previous build and removes any stale files.
Closing since we are already using msbuild for iOS.
