Description Brandon Vaughan 2012-12-20 14:06:15 UTC
Parsing text numbers with Int32.TryParse is unsuccessful when using exponents with decimals. "1.1E+1" is converted to an Int32 with value 11 on MS .Net, but is null in Mono.

Source used to reproduce problem:

using System;
using System.Globalization;

namespace Int32TryParseMono
    class MainClass
        public static void Main(string[] args)
            Int32 value;
            IFormatProvider english = new CultureInfo("en-US");
            NumberStyles style = NumberStyles.AllowDecimalPoint | NumberStyles.AllowExponent;
            //In Visual Studio, TryParse sets value to 11. In Mono, value is set to null.
            bool succeeded = Int32.TryParse("1.1E+1", style, english, out value);
            if (succeeded)
                Console.WriteLine("The converted text = " + value);
            } else
                Console.WriteLine("TryParse returned null");
