Would be handy to have a Mono for Android equivalent of the MonoTouch.Constants.Version field.
I also agree with this, it would be extremely useful.
This is becoming more and more important, as we for debugging bugs etc need to know quickly from logs which version of Xamarin our app was built with. Our customers run a great variety of versions of our app.
We do not plan on providing anything equivalent to the MonoTouch.Constants class as part of our public API.
We did add a AssemblyInformationalVersionAttribute to Mono.Android.dll in Xamarin.Android 4.14 which contains equivalent information:
var attrs = (System.Reflection.AssemblyInformationalVersionAttribute)
string version = attrs .InformationalVersion;
> // version is like "4.13.350.144144054; git-rev-head:89776b6; git-branch:master"
