It seems that it's only possible to invoke the Assembly Browser by double-clicking one of a project's references (I'm sure there's probably a couple other ways, but I'm not aware of them).
There should be a menu-item for it in the 'View' menu, because it's commonly-used, and only being able to invoke it via double-clicking a reference is, quite frankly, quirky. And it should be noted that MSVS has such a menu-item (called 'Object Browser') in its own 'View' menu, so I'm sure MSVS users would expect something similar to be there in MonoDevelop.
I think you have a good point. The open menu item in the right-click context menu will also open the assembly browser, but I agree that there should be something in the main menus.
I'll do it after the new resolver merge.
I want an integrated class browser there as well. I'll improve the assembly browser after the merge.
I took some time today to improve the assembly browser a bit - this got fixed as well.
