Description Andres G. Aragoneses 2012-11-12 14:51:35 UTC
I really don't understand why the default is simply not "Keep line endings".

Otherwise, it is encouraged that developers pollute VCS history by creating commits whose DIFFs change entire documents (and sometimes they are dumb enough to commit those changes along with other changes, which is even more annoying).
Comment 1 Mike Krüger 2012-11-12 19:49:58 UTC
It's annoying because you make something wrong.

Set the line ending policy in the project options to those which match.
Comment 2 Andres G. Aragoneses 2012-11-12 19:52:27 UTC
Mike, this bug is about not needing to set the line-ending policy, there should be a sane default, and then keep the configuration setting for the advanced users.

I thought you guys hired a bunch of designers? I'm sure they would agree with this ;)
Comment 3 Mike Krüger 2012-11-12 19:54:29 UTC
That can only happen when you work on windows and linux and have not set check out native line endings.

It's sane that the IDE checks for valid line-endings.

- Try a discussion on the monodevelop mailing list instead :)

Mike, did this bug become a duplicate of bug 15248? I can't see it :)
Comment 5 Andres G. Aragoneses 2013-10-11 04:19:44 UTC
Actually, disregard comment#4... I've checked the patch and it's only changing styles...
Comment 6 Andres G. Aragoneses 2016-01-14 02:24:48 UTC
Mike, does https://github.com/mono/monodevelop/commit/aa88840e78e6646f7b58b9309d948782a9145618 make this bug be FIXED instead of FEATURE? Thanks
