Description Rogier van der Hee 2012-10-04 15:17:03 UTC
One little gripe that gets me every time is that I use the solution explorer to switch between classes and then there is an issue with the focus (at least for me).

If I click on a tab to switch classes, the focus is on the text editor of the newly selected tab and copy-paste works perfectly.

If I click on a class in the solution explorer that is already open, it switches to the right already open tab but does not give focus to the editor.

Try this:
1. Open two classes
2. Select text in class1 (blue)
3. Switch to class2 (using either solution explorer or tabs)
4. Switch to class1 using tabs: text is selected again and ready for copy/paste
5. Switch to class2 (using either solution explorer or tabs)
6. Switch to class1 using solution explorer

Now the text is selected but grey and not ready for copy/paste or editing or whatever. I need to extra click in the editor, which gets me every time....

We're currently working on the shell design.

But I doubt that can be fixed easily because if you use the mouse it moves the focus away from the document area. If you click in the solution explorer then the tree has the input focus - I don't think that it should move back to the text editor.

However the tabs are a different thing.

@Lluis: would it be possible that the tab control remembers which widget had the input focus inside the document and restores that, if the tab is selected again ?

For the text editor it's simple - but for stuff like the gettext editor it would be nice to give focus back to the widget that it had the focus before.

This has been fixed to work as outlined in comment 0 in current versions. Mark closed?
