When using one or more C files (example the sqlite3.c file) in a C++ application, compiling fails as it only executes the compiler (specified in Project > [Project] Options > Build > Compiler) on the entire project, instead of detecting which compiler (C or C++) to use on which file (based on file extension).

This means it's impossible to mix C and C++ files in a single project using Monodevelop, something that is allowed and parsed for in most other IDE's.

My projects are also incompatible with MonoDevelop for this reason. Please add a per-file lnguage option.

How can this have 'Lowest' importance?

I just spent a couple of nights adding MonoDevelop support to premake (https://bitbucket.org/premake/premake-dev/pull-request/23/added-c-c-support-for-monodevelop) so I could work in Linux instead of Windows, but after all that work I'm blocked by this :(

The C/C++ addin was always community maintained, though the core MD team keeps it building and tries not to break it. Unfortunately there currently isn't a maintainer - contributions would be very welcome.

Hmmm, okay well I'll take a look at the code. I presume it's all C#, and developed within MonoDevelop? :)

Has there ever been talk of enabling the github issue tracker? I really hate dealing with bugzilla, and I tend to find it a significant deterrence when considering joining projects... :/

No plans to switch to the GitHub tracker, we're pretty invested in BugZilla right now, for better or worse. Sorry!
