For some obscure reason, my Xamarin.Android project referencing Firebase library ignores the google-services.json file in the release build, causing the OnTokenRefresh() method to come up empty because of an empty app-id (see attachment with output from logcat). The file is correctly marked with BuildAction GoogleServices.Json.
Could you please attach a project which reproduces the issue?
I am adding Cc to Dean as it doesn't look like linker problem. We will see what it is once we have the repro project.
