For iOS, Android and TVOS applications, designer always opens in XML format only.
Steps To Reproduce :
1. Create any single view application (iOS/Android/TVOS)
2. Open main.Storyboard for iOS/TVOS and main.axml for android
3. Observe the designer screen
Expected Result : Designer screen should be opened in previewer screen.
Actual Result: Designer is opened in XML format.

Please let me know if anything more is required.
I believe this issue is because the wrong MSI files were used. Please get in touch with Luis or Ben to get the right installers for testing.
I just installed the same build and it does not seem to be a wrong MSI issue.
However, I did get package load failures right after installing. Deleting the %localappdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\ComponentModelCache folder manually resulted in working designers *and* previewer.
Could you try that workaround, to determine if we need to re-introduce that step in the MSI?
*** Bug 60412 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
After locally trying reintroducing the MEF nuking, it still fails on the first run for me. But a subsequent run works just fine :S
@Prasad could you please verify that this is a first-run only issue? Or is it persistent?
Its failing for me every time.
Plz provide the location where you got the MSI from, as well as the full VS version info (including XVS versions).
@ Daniel Cazzulino
It has been again reproduced on latest build as well.

Installed the given build. First run failed to load package as usual (that's another known issue, unrelated to this one).
Restarted VS, can't repro (storyboards and axml loads just fine in the designer).
I noticed that the build info in comment 8 does not list the designer bits. I'm going to go ahead and guess that the correct designer bits are not installed.
@Prasad, can you go to Extensions and Updates, and tell us what designer versions are installed?
Also, I can't reproduce this either with our 15.5 Preview 4 MSI. I'm going to leave this as resolved as it probably is an environmental issue. If we verify that this is the case, then the bug can be marked as `verified not_reproducible`.
