IDE log

I have an app that works for the majority of the time, but on some occasions will crash. I've attached both the throwback and the IDE log from VS for Mac.

There doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern to the crashing which makes it even more annoying!

Hi Paul,

This bug will be a bit trickier to pinpoint without a sample project or reproduction steps. Based on the crash log you've provided, I see:

[libc] Fatal signal 11 (SIGSEGV), code 1, fault addr 0x87 in tid 9089 (Threadpool work)

Which to me sounds like this is failing in libc / native code. Based on the definition:

This signal is generated when a program tries to read or write outside the memory that is allocated for it, or to write memory that can only be read. (Actually, the signals only occur when the program goes far enough outside to be detected by the system’s memory protection mechanism.) The name is an abbreviation for “segmentation violation”.

Common ways of getting a SIGSEGV condition include dereferencing a null or uninitialized pointer, or when you use a pointer to step through an array, but fail to check for the end of the array. It varies among systems whether dereferencing a null pointer generates SIGSEGV or SIGBUS.

To help diagnose this issue further, we will need a reliable way to reproduce this, and also "adb logcat" logs if possible.

Given that your version information looks like Preview items, is this the same case with the application? In other words, is the application currently out on the store or are you encountering this while debugging?

Thank you!

I have a feeling it was because I was using the alpha branch that this was happening. Not seen it in stable.
