Description Dakota Whipple 2017-08-21 11:27:40 UTC
# Steps to reproduce
Clone repo then run make world

# Expected behavior
After installing dependencies, should be a working build

# Actual behavior
Says I do not have Xcode83.app installed. I do have it installed from the app store.

# Supplemental info (logs, images, videos)
I had to do a sudo ln -s /Applications/Xcode.app /Applications/Xcode83.app
and change my xcode-select to build the project.

# Test environment (full version information)
MacOS 10.12.6

From the description, this appears to describe issues you ran into while building Xamarin.Mac from source.

As noted in the readme:

To ease development with different versions of the SDK that require different versions of Xcode, we require Xcode to be in a non-standard location (based on the Xcode version).

For example Xcode 7.0 must be installed in /Applications/Xcode7.app.

The recommended procedure is to download the corresponding Xcode dmg from Apple's Developer Center, extract Xcode.app to your system, and rename it before launching it the first time. Renaming Xcode.app after having launched it once may confuse Xcode, and strange errors start occuring.

In any case, bugzilla is the not the appropriate location for issues related to building xamarin.mac. We have a development channel on gitter

for such items.
