IDE Log describing the error
When opening a Xamarin solution the IDE freezes if the is required to reenter his credentials. VS has to be killed via Task Manager and does not provide any information to the user regarding the re-authentication.
Are you able to confirm if there is an old license file in any of the following locations noted in step 5 of this doc: https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/cross-platform/troubleshooting/legacy-licenses/resync-licenses/#Extended_manual_license_refresh_steps
Try removing that file and see if you continue to have this issue. The log errors seem related to legacy licenses.
Thank for getting back to me. Yeah I updated the License Files in the Account Dialog of VS 2017 that seemed to have done the trick. Also had to login again on the MacOS side.
Hope the error messages will become better over time without having a frozen VS on startup via Project shortcut.
Thanks for confirming you were able to workaround the issue.
We're marking it as confirmed to work on a fix.
@Jose Unfortunately it happened again, after applying the steps. Only solution is to repeat them over and over again every time VS freezes. I have not yet detected a time pattern of sorts but it seems the license info is stored at an additional place which does not update properly?
Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce this issue. Did you own a Xamarin business license before?
What version of Visual Studio are you using on Mac and Windows? Is it possible to share the information?
You don't necessarily have to login to use Xamarin tools now that it's free. However, I will talk to engineering team regarding this issue and keep you updates?
Because we have not received a reply to our request for more information in over 4 weeks, we are closing this issue. If you are still encountering this issue, please reopen the ticket with the requested information so we can continue looking into this. Thanks!
