Do you know which devices this occurs on? I can't reproduce it using my Pixel device. It would be nice to be able to reproduce the issue if possible.

We encountered this behaviour on Samsung Galaxy S4 (I9506) with Android 5.0.1.

Based on my research this appears to be a known issue in the Android Bluetooth stack. I would suggest creating a bug against the Android Open Source Project, as it is upstream of Xamarin.
