When connecting to remote .NET 2.0 webservices, the proxy class generated by the system has disabled HTTP compression by default.

So you have to enable this by using :

myproxy.EnableDecompression = True;

It makes no sence, as HTTP compression speeds up communication with a remote .NET webservice 2-3 times, saving mobile bandwidth and speeding up communication.

I have only tested this in a MonoTouch project, but would expect a mac console app to behave in the same way.
