Description Kent 2017-05-01 23:19:07 UTC
Breakpoints in iOS have stopped working for me. I'm not sure exactly when, perhaps a week or so ago. Some things I've tried:

1. Restarting VS
2. A complete clean (git clean -xdf) of my source tree
3. Restarting my Mac
4. Installing the minor XCode update
5. Creating a new project

Nothing has worked. If I issue a Debugger.Break call, the debugger breaks, but not in my code. Instead, it breaks in the first code it can find (if any) that called my code.

Hi Kent,

Please verify with latest bits, this issue should be already fixed.

Comment 2 Brendan Zagaeski (Xamarin Team, assistant) 2017-05-02 16:33:47 UTC
Note: "latest bits" in Comment 1 is most likely referring to the "15.2" Feature Preview versions [1], which include the Xamarin.VisualStudio version 4.5.0 extension for Visual Studio. To try these versions in Visual Studio 2017, you can install the Visual Studio 2017 Preview version as noted briefly on [1].

Comment 3 Jose Gallardo 2017-05-02 16:53:57 UTC
Hi Brendan, thanks for the clarification.
And yes, it was not clear in my Comment 1. I was referring to XVS 4.5 latest preview, which is in the VS 2017 preview channel.

Kent, I'm sorry if that was confusing.
If you have the chance to try that preview, and you don't think it resolves your issue, please feel free to reopen the bug with the details.

Thanks again.

Well I've been burnt in the past by alpha/beta bits, so I don't go there any more.

That said, this morning I decided to check whether breakpoints in my iOS projects were being hit because I realised I had only tried breaking in my PCL projects. Sure enough, they hit. Bizzarely, breakpoints in my PCL projects now hit too. I haven't changed a damn thing...
