It does work for other Unicode chars, like ▼.

The first remains Black; the second one will be (correctly) display as Blue.
This problem only occurs in Android, not in iOS.
I was not able to reproduce this with a new project. I tested on an Android 4.4 emulator and 6.0 device and with Forms 188.8.131.52 and 2.3.4-pre6.
Can you attach a reproduction project to the report so we can look into this? Please note that we may close this issue if there is no response after 30 days. Thanks!

Test project to demonstrate behaviour
I have attached an example project.
Note that the problem doesn't occurr in de Android emulator. I can only reproduce it on my test device, an Samsung SM-A310F, Android 6.0.1, Kernel 3.10.61-9624472, KNOX 2.6.
This works fine for me on device LG nexus and on the emulators.
