When Visual Studio is opened there is no popup message to install Xamarin updates.
In Tools > Options > Xamarin > Other > 'Check Now', it says the updates are downloaded, but clicking Install does nothing.
Could you please share what XVS version you are experiencing this with?
I think you mean the Xamarin version right? It says "Xamarin 184.108.40.2064" in Help > About
The update in 'Stable' is 'Xamarin 220.127.116.115'
The updates in beta are 'Xamarin 18.104.22.168', 'Xamarin iOS Simulator 22.214.171.124', and 'Xamarin Profiler 1.4.0'
The behaviour is the same whether I am trying to install Stable, beta or alpha updates
You are correct; thank you for providing the build version.
Changing the status back to NEW because the requested information was provided.
As a warning to anyone else experiencing this issue, DO NOT download the update manually and install it with the .visx, I just tried this and it completely bricked my Xamarin installation.
Please share you *Visual Studio* version.
At the time the updates weren't working, I was not able to install them in VS2015 OR VS2017.
I am now using only VS2017 for Xamarin development
In VS2017, updates are shipped as part of Visual Studio. Whenever updates are available, you can install them via the new Visual Studio Installer.
