Homebrew is a popular package manager for Mac OS X nowadays.

It has a diagnostic command, "brew doctor".
Unfortunately, "brew doctor" is unhappy with Mono.framework.

I don't know the reasons behind yet.

This doesn't sound like a Mono bug, it sounds like an overzealous check in brew to work around issues in CMake.

Installing Xamarin obviously also installed Mono on my Mac.

When I install homebrew I get a warning indicating a possible conflict between homebrew and Mono. It might be a warning that covers for problems in CMake and it is just a warning.

But it makes me worried, I have to spend time on research, and in the end all this reflects badly on Xamarin.

* Install XCode and Xamarin.

* Installed homebrew with: ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/mxcl/homebrew/go)"
* Run: brew doctor

Xamarin and dependencies to be side effect free.

I get following warning from brew doctor:
    Warning: /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework detected
    This can be picked up by CMake's build system and likely cause the build to
    fail. You may need to move this file out of the way to compile CMake.

Finally, I suggest that you consider reopening this issue since homebrew is a so common tool today.
There is a closed tickets for this issue that I think should be reopen in [Homebrew's tracker](https://github.com/mxcl/homebrew/issues/11030).

Not a bug, that is where Mono installs, if you have tools using this location to check for Mono, shocker, you will get the Mono installed from that location.
