I'm trying to get the popular XamSvg component to display its svg in the Xamarin android Designer in Visual Studio.
The designer does find the component, discover its designable properties, appears in the toolbox, and draw its background correctly.
I've updated it to make it display internal exceptions, and it leads to the "Picture" constructor throwing an exception when trying to instantiate a new Picture:
Stack trace in screen capture.
Is this a limitation of the Xamarin designer for Android ?
Creating a Picture is indeed not supported from what I can see in Google rendering library. The normal Picture constructor will call the non-implemented nativeConstructor method and subsequently throw the RuntimeException you are seeing.
You can log this as a bug upstream if you want: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/entry?template=Studio%20Layout%20Editor%20Issue
Ok i implemented a workaround.
Ty for your time.
