Description Scott 2012-05-16 14:37:52 UTC
I cannot copy/paste code correctly from within mono develop.
I'm using the cmd+c and cmd+v to copy/paste on a macbook pro.
It appears to have older "copied" contents in the clipboard and pastes that instead of the text I had just copied.

I cannot tell you how annoying and how debilitating this problem is.
It makes it very difficult to copy/paste code from the editor into an email to share with other developers.

I can't reproduce this. Does it always happen, or just in some cases? Can you give us the system information from the MD About dialog?
Comment 2 Scott 2012-05-16 14:43:25 UTC
It seems to always happen now that I've upgraded to 3.0.

Perhaps I need to be more specific about the error.
I just noticed that it will NOT let me copy/paste from mono develop to another application like email or textedit. It seems to work fine when copy/paste is WITHIN mono develop.
Comment 3 Scott 2012-05-16 14:45:05 UTC
This is weird. I can copy from mono develop to open office. This works for some strange reason.
But I still cannot copy from mono develop to email or textedit.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.4 (2 GHz Core i7) with 8GB of Memory.

I have Mono Develop 3.0, Mono 2.10.9, and Monotouch 5.2.11

I still can't repro this, I can copy/paste into textedit fine. Do you get any error dialogs? Is there any error in the MonoDevelop log?

You can find it in ~/Library/Logs/MonoDevelop-3.0/MonoDevelop.log

Could you include the system information from the MonoDevelop About box? It would be helpful to have some of the other information from that dialog, such as the Mono package version.

Which type of file are you using - csharp ?
Comment 7 Scott 2012-05-17 12:46:49 UTC
Yes, I'm using csharp.

I am also seeing the same problem, with MD 3.0. Copy via shortcut or menu does not work. It was working fine until I updated to 3.0.

Comment 9 dj_technohead 2012-05-18 14:40:39 UTC
I just realised, this only occurs when editing non code files, in this case I was trying to copy text from a .txt file.
Comment 10 Mike Krüger 2012-05-18 16:26:30 UTC
Ok then it's fixed in master.

I wanted to inform you that this problem occurs when attempting to copy/paste from .xml files using the editor in MonoDevelop.
Comment 13 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2012-06-13 12:04:45 UTC
This should be fixed in MD 3.0.3.

4.0, Linux. Exactly the same bug for xml files!

Mac OS X. Happens ALL THE TIME. Really frustrating. Version 6.1.1. I installed, reinstalled different versions of Xamarin since this spring, and it always had this bug. Also - mono develop has this same bug! I am thinking this has to do with me having two languages installed on the system (two keyboard layouts). It must be because of this that you couldn't see this bug, because sorry, but you cannot expect people to work with this bug being reproduced as often as it is reproduced for me and my colleagues (who also have russian layout in the system as well as english). So several times a day all shortcuts including CMD button stop working: cmd+c, cmd+v, cmd-space (changes keyboard layout), cmd+. . Search field also stops working (nothing can be typed in there). Please reopen and fix it.
