Description romain 2012-05-16 04:00:19 UTC
MonoDevelop's code use some hard-coded bash path (#!/bin/bash) and some Makefiles run the 'make' command directly.

On some systems, (e.g. FreeBSD), bash is not installed in /bin (e.g. /usr/local/bin/bash on FreeBSD) and make will not cope with the GNU Makefiles used in the project (in this case, you have to run GNU make which is available as gmake on FreeBSD).

Both make and gmake will set the variable $(MAKE) properly, so the fix consists in using /usr/bin/env to find and run bash in shell scripts, and use "$(MAKE)" instead of "make" in the Makefiles.

The attached patch fixes the build for FreeBSD. Some files which are OSX specific and could be updated as well are left untouched (I don't have such systems to test). If you would like me to provide a complete patch, feel free to ask so!
