On enabling the linker in Release Mode with "Sdk assemblies only" all Effects do not work anymore. Additionally the custom LaunchScreen.storyboard also is gone. Everything Works in Debug on an iPhone with the Linker set to "Sdk assemblies only".

To me, this seems weird. All Effects are inside a separate Project, linked in the Solution.

Without the Linker to work properly we are unable to release an App.

I am happy to provide any additional information if needed.

I'd say if this is confirmed, then it's a serious issue. What version of XF are you using? What about Xamarin.iOS? You should post some environment info. A repro would also be nice.

Some environment information:


Xamarin Studio 6.1.3

Build Settings (Release):
SDX version: 10.2
Linker behavior: Link Framework SDKs only
Supported Architecture: ARMv7 + ARM64
Use LLVM compiler: checked
Perform all 32-bit float operations as 64-bit float. : unchecked
Strip native debug symbols: checked
No incremental or device sepcific builds
Optimize PNG images: checked

The LaunchScreen contains only one image at the center position
Can be Launch Screen: checked


The thing is when I build and deploy the App AdHoc in release config it works. Just not when publishing the app to TestFlight and installing it from there.

Sorry for not being very responsive, I will try to setup a test project. For now, I switch to Launch Images.

About the Effects I wrote initially.

This could be resolved with a static Init method and run it in the FinishedLaunching Method.

From a PlatformEffect Implementation:
