If you write to System.Environment.GetFolderPath (System.Environment.SpecialFolder.Personal) It gets cleared every time you build/deploy to your device. This data should persist through deploying the app to your device.

There's a setting for this in VS, MD should have an equivalent.

The VS one is Tools->Options->Mono for Android->Persist data between deploys (roughly)

We were leaving it open because it still needs to be implemented in the MonoDevelop addin.

Now it is implemented in MD too.
