In a very basic cross-platform solution, when trying to install EF with NuGet to UWP, the following error is generated":
"Package EntityFramework 6.1.3 is not compatible with uap10.0 (UAP,Version=v10.0) / win10-x86-aot. Package EntityFramework 6.1.3 supports:
- net40 (.NETFramework,Version=v4.0)
- net45 (.NETFramework,Version=v4.5)"
EF installs to all other platforms.
EntityFramework 6 only supports .NET 4.0 and .NET 4.5.
EntityFramework Core supports .NET 4.5.1 and .NET Standard 1.3, which should work in a UWP application, but has not yet been released on nuget.org and is only available from myget.org.
Problems with EntityFramework Core should be reported on their github page:
Thanks. Question... Is the development path for Entity Framework with Cross-Platform then targeted at each platform and not the PCL?
The bug tracker is not really a good place for questions about EntityFramework. I would ask them on the EntityFramework site - https://github.com/aspnet/EntityFramework
Looking at the NuGet package for Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore the assemblies either target .NET 4.5 or .NETStandard 1.3. There are no PCL assemblies. .NET Standard should work across most of the platforms, such as Android, iOS and UWP. .NET Standard libraries that target 1.3 and above cannot be used with PCL projects.
