Now that smooth scrolling and the trackpad make it very easy to scroll a small amount horizontally even when intending to scroll vertically, it would be good if the text editor would handle horizontal scrolling efficiently, i.e. using GdkWindow.Scroll instead of a full re-expose.
This will require multiple GtkWindows, one for left margins, one for the text editor, and one for right margins (if any). GtkTextView does this AFAICT.
Note also that the blame view right margin renders scrolling inefficiently.
It's not that easy to do atm.
Horizontal scrolling isn't that bad on linux atm (line layouts get cached) - I suspect that
makes it worse on mac.
Is this still an issue? I'm testing with the lastest 7.1 beta on a mac ... horizontal scrolling seems pretty smooth to me :)
closing as not reproducible, as this was likely fixed in a prior release :)
