My app has a MasterDetailPage, one of the detail pages is a Carousel page. So as per the instructions found here: https://developer.xamarin.com/api/type/Xamarin.Forms.CarouselPage/ I'm setting IsGestureEnabled to false, to avoid conflicts between the swipes.
However, the burger menu icon no longer opens the Master page either. How am I supposed to open my Master page again?
The link below is to a sample project which just has a master detail page which doesn't open the master page due to IsGestureEnabled being set.
This seems to be dictated by Android. When ActionBarDrawerToggle uses a Toolbar (which is what is happening now under NavigationPage), a locked drawer will also disable the hamburger icon. For detailed info, see http://stackoverflow.com/a/38098891/812582
I haven't tried this, but you could perhaps handle onTouchEvent in a custom renderer and cancel touch event before the drawer opens even though gestures are enabled on the MDP.
Thanks for this. I did create a custom renderer for the MDP which I posted here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/40404944/masterdetailpage-master-page-wont-open-with-isgestureenabled-set-to-false-xamari
However, while this worked for me (the menu doesn't open but you can see the burger menu start its rotation animation before closing itself) someone commented that it didn't work at all on their device.
There does appear to be a bit of inconsistency between iOS and Android with regards to the top left button opening and closing the master page. I'll set this to confirmed until it can be decided how this should be handled.
