I am running Xamarin extension for visual studio V4.1.2 on my windows machine, connecting to a Macbook pro Late 2011.

When I run a clean build on my windows machine to an ios device it takes 7 minutes.
2 minutes taken up by the task "UnpackLibraryResources"

When I run a clean build on my mac using Xamarin Studio for mac it takes 5 minutes
the "unpackLibraryResources" task takes less than 1 second.

I have uploaded the logs of both machines. With such disparity this has got to be a bug?

This is expected when the UnpackLibraryResources has to copy large files to the Mac server. In the provided logs you can check that the 2 mins diff is because of that:

8>  UnpackLibraryResources: 2016-08-15T12:54:44.7120320+01:00 - Copying files (8 files) (TaskId:458)
8>  UnpackLibraryResources: 2016-08-15T12:56:41.4013760+01:00 - Serializing intputs (TaskId:458)

Of course, you don't have this overhead when building locally in the mac. After the full build, the incremental builds should not add this extra time.

@adrian Alonso.

2 minutes seems like a very long time to copy 8 files across a local network.

the 8 files amount to around 30mb. So I still can't understand what is taking the time
