I have attached a small sample.
This sample contains a carouselView 1000 views and starts on view 500.
It has a button at the top which when clicked changes the position to 0
and clicked again changes it back to 500.
The carouselView animates the changing of the position and takes a good couple of minutes to change from 500 to 0
I think carouselView needs a doesanimate property that can be bound to which determins whether the view animates to the position (when changed) or goes directly to that position.
I have only currently tested this on Android. Not sure if this is the same for all OS's but i presume so.
I can confirm this. There is a workaround after looking at the sources I found if you set Itemsource=null while setting the position it works.
var itemsource = DayCarousel.ItemsSource;
DayCarousel.ItemsSource = null;
DayCarousel.Position = i;
DayCarousel.ItemsSource = itemsource;
At least on Android this works
But I also agree that this need to be choosen by a Property
I need this functionality as well.
CarouselView to be deprecated and replaced with https://github.com/xamarin/Xamarin.Forms/pull/853
