I see this during my build:
3>C:\Projects\test\MvvmCross-AndroidSupport\packages\Xamarin.Android.Support.Vector.Drawable.23.2.1\build\Xamarin.Android.Support.Vector.Drawable.targets(40,5): error : An outdated of 'Android SDK Build-tools' is in use which this version of Android Support Library does not support. You must uninstall any 'Android SDK Build-tools' versions older than 23.0.0 from the 'Tools' section in your 'Android SDK Manager'
Why is the support library trying to use an older version of the Android SDK Built-tools? I have versions 19.1 to 23.0.3 installed. Why isn't this *one* support library using the latest build tools?! Why does it try to use an older version that's obsolete?
I bumped the log verbosity up and I see the following form msbuild:
2>Target "VectorDrawableCheckBuildToolsVersionTask" in file "C:\Projects\test\MvvmCross-AndroidSupport\packages\Xamarin.Android.Support.Vector.Drawable.23.2.1\build\Xamarin.Android.Support.Vector.Drawable.targets" from project "C:\Projects\test\MvvmCross-AndroidSupport\MvvmCross.Droid.Support.V7.AppCompat\MvvmCross.Droid.Support.V7.AppCompat.csproj" (target "_UpdateAndroidResgen" depends on it):
2>Using "VectorDrawableCheckBuildToolsVersionTask" task from assembly "C:\Projects\test\MvvmCross-AndroidSupport\packages\Xamarin.Android.Support.Vector.Drawable.23.2.1\build\Xamarin.Android.Support.Tasks.VectorDrawable.dll".
2> Checking Android SDK Build-tools version...
2> Selected Android SDK Build Tools Path: C:\Users\jkolb\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\build-tools\21.1.1\
2> Selected Android SDK Build Tools Version: 21.1.1
2> Android SDK Build Tools Directory: build-tools
2> The following Build-tools versions are installed:
2>C:\Projects\test\MvvmCross-AndroidSupport\packages\Xamarin.Android.Support.Vector.Drawable.23.2.1\build\Xamarin.Android.Support.Vector.Drawable.targets(40,5): error : An outdated of 'Android SDK Build-tools' is in use which this version of Android Support Library does not support. You must uninstall any 'Android SDK Build-tools' versions older than 23.0.0 from the 'Tools' section in your 'Android SDK Manager'
2>Done executing task "VectorDrawableCheckBuildToolsVersionTask" -- FAILED.
Why isn't Xamarin using the latest build tools by default?
I also faced with this problem.
See http://forums.xamarin.com/discussion/64760/outdated-sdk-build-tools-when-trying-to-build for other people hitting this issue.
I'm facing the problem as well, any solution?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to reproduce this report. If this issue is still occurring for you, please reopen this issue and attach a reproduction to the bug by starting with a clean Xamarin.Android project adding just the code necessary to demonstrate the issue.
