Description Christian Käser 2016-03-09 14:24:23 UTC
On Android, when there are two Xamarin.Forms pages on the navigation stack and each of those pages has an ActivityIndicator with IsRunning = true, the second one doesn't actually rotate but stays stationary.

A possible workaround is to set IsRunning = false on the first ActivityIndicator before opening the page with the second one.

Can be reproduced on multiple Android 5.x and 6.x devices with Xamarin.Forms 1.5 and 2.1. Works as expected on iOS.

Thank you for taking the time to submit the bug. We tried to reproduce the issue you reported but were unable given the description. If you could please attach a reproduction to the bug by starting with a clean Xamarin.Forms project and adding just the code necessary to demonstrate the issue we would very much appreciate it.

Warm regards,
Xamarin Forms Team

It might be an interaction with something else in my code but I'll try to get a minimal example running.

Minimal example project

Here's a minimal example. I guess the problem is an interaction between Xamarin.Forms and the AsyncCommand (which I adapted from http://mike-ward.net/2013/08/09/asynccommand-implementation-in-wpf/, MSDN has a pretty similar example at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dn630647.aspx)

To see the behavior, just tap the "Show Child" button. The child page shows up but the ActivityIndicator is frozen in place. When you set IsRunning=false for the ActivityIndicator on ParentPage, the one on ChildPage spins as expected.

I've been trying to replicate your issue using the repro you've provided. I've not been able to reproduce the problem on an emulator or on a Nexus 6 device.

Which devices have you encountered this problem on?
