Description Andres G. Aragoneses 2016-01-25 05:04:18 UTC
Just downloaded XS6.0 Preview 3 (build 3668) for Windows and:

1. File -> New -> Solution
2. Choose "Other -> .NET" in the left panel.
3. "Console Project" will be highlighted in the list because it's the first.

Current results:
The combobox on the right of the selection (to choose your language) defaults to "IL".

Expected results:
The default language should be C# or F#.

This is strange. I am unable to reproduce this with the preview on Windows. The default language is set as C# so it should not default to IL unless IL is the only available language or IL was selected from a drop down. Also the languages are sorted alphabetically so C# should be first if it exists. The selected language is stored in the MonoDevelopProperties.xml file with the property name Dialogs.NewProjectDialog.SelectedLanguage which is used to remember the language used between Xamarin Studio sessions.

Oh! my guess is that C# is not being seen by MonoDevelop as available because this other bug?: https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=37977

We think this might be now fixed or is otherwise no longer up-to-date. We're resolving the bug but please feel free to open a new one if you're still running into any issues.
