On emulator for me, all I get is a blank screen titled TextureViewDemo
The device used was the ACER IconiaTab with ICS.
Also the sample is only supposed to work on device, so my last line above can be ignored for the bug's purposes. I
As an enhancement and if its trivial, however, we could add a label that says 'please run on a device with hardware acceleration' etc.
I have cheked it with following builds:

I am running it on device Galaxy Tab 10.1 Version is 4.0.3. Application getting crashed on this device. However this is working fine on another devices like:
HTC one version 4.0.3
Samsung S4 version 4.3

The issue has to do with a subtly in Camera.open(), in which null is returned for devices without a rear facing camera. The updated version solves this and was tested on an Acer ICS tablet
