Description Anubhav Ranjan 2015-12-21 17:55:42 UTC
I am using Xamarin.Forms to make an Android app. I would like to report
a bug. The bug is as follows:

I have a page which contains a content that is wrapped in ScrollView. In
the page I have some entries, pickers and other controls. When I focus
on the entries, the soft keyboard appears and the content overlaps with
the status bar and hides it.

Attachment [1.png] shows the page on initial load. As you can see, the
status bar is there and it is colored green.
Attachment [2.png] shows the page when we have focused on an Entry. As you
can see - the status bar is hidden and the page's content overlaps with it.

The same happens if we use TableView.

I was also able to reproduce the issue. The screenshots are from my case. The bug emerged on HTC One M8 running Lollipop (5.0.1). I think that this happens only on Lollipop and above, since I was unable to reproduce it in the other versions below. It might have something to do with the coloring of the status bar, which began possible on Lollipop. The bug occurs if our MainActivity is deriving from FormsAppCompatActivity, and not from FormsApplicationActivity.

So to sum up - the issue happens only on devices running Lollipop or above, which MainActivity's parent Activity is FormsAppCompatActivity.

I was also able to reproduce the bug. This happens only if we focus an entry (or any other control) that is of the bottom line. If we have an entry that is on the first row, this bug won't happen. This bug occurs only if we are using FormsAppCompatActivity and when we have a ScrollView or a TableView with a lot of rows and when we focus of a row that is one of the bottom rows.

Sample Project

This is resolved in the latest code.

Selecting an Entry at the top of the content doesn't cause an issue, but when selecting an Entry that requires scrolling into view with an open keyboard the status bar could be obscured. BAD GOOD
