Description domen 2015-08-27 12:52:14 UTC
When I start Xamarin Android Player (0.4.4) from Xamarin Studio (5.9.5), status bar in Xamarin Studio shows that device is starting, but device never manages to start. Instead, new device named ( is example of my IP) is started.

Other uses are having the same issue:

Also: Xamarin Studio behaves strangely when this occurs. Examples:
* If I open drop-down list of devices in IDE (list that is on top, next to the Debug/Release drop-down) and go with mouse cursor over entry, mouse hover (blue entry background) moves to the next device entry. If I move mouse further, hover does not stop "jumping" to the next entry.
* If I open Tools -> Android Devices... window and press Refresh, device disappears.

My Xamarin version:

Additional information:

* Issue occurs with VirtualBox 5.0.2 and 4.3.30. I have not tested others.
* I cannot make screenshots with emulator anymore (pressing camera button or ctrl+s does nothing).
* Emulator is significantly slower (I also get "[Choreographer] Skipped 57 frames! The application may be doing too much work on its main thread." log entries). But this may be my computer's fault, I'm not sure.
* I have reinstalled Xamarin Android Player but mentioned issues this persist.

Can you confirm what version of adb is installed;

'adb version'
Comment 3 domen 2015-08-28 06:43:46 UTC
adb version returns:
Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.32
Revision 57224c5cff69-android
Comment 4 domen 2015-08-30 11:23:44 UTC
I have updated Xamarin Android Player to 0.5.5 and issue still persists.

But I have now downgraded my Android SDK Tools (from 24.3.4 to 24.3.3) and Android SDK Platform-tools (from 23 to 22). Xamarin Android Player works as expected; Xamarin Studio successfully starts the device, player is not slow any more and screenshots are saved on the desktop.

adb version returns:
Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.32

(there's no line with revision)

Well, I don't have access to the mentioned bug, but I've just updated Xamarin Android Player to 0.5.6 (15.36).

With Android Platform-tools 23: device is still starting infinitely and new device with IP address is created. When I deploy application to the IP address device, Xamarin Android Player runs smoothly (previously it was slow). But: when I open device drop-down menu in Xamarin Studio, whole program freezes until I select some device. Then after about five seconds drop-down menu closes and Xamarin Studio unfreezes.

With Android Platform-tools 22: device normally starts. Device drop-down menu in Xamarin Studio works normally.

I can confirm that downgrading my Android Platform-tools to version 22 and the Android SDK Tools to version 24.3.3 also resolves this issue.
Then the player launches as expected and no new device with an IP Address for a name is created.

I just updated to version 0.5.6 of XAP and then updated my Android SDK tools and platform tools to the latest versions again, 24.3.4 and 23, respectively and this issue appears to be fixed. Everything worked as expected from my Windows VM as well while connecting to XAP on the Mac.

Fixed in 0.5.6

For me it still does not work as it should. Check comment 6.

Used versions:
Xamarin Studio 5.9.5
Xamarin Android Player 0.5.6
Android SDK Tools 24.3.4
Android SDK Platform-tools 23
VirtualBox 5.0.2
adb version: check comment 3

With Xamarin Android Player version 0.6.1 everything works fine.
