Description Geoff Armstrong 2015-08-11 13:21:38 UTC
In the main window, you have a breadcrumb trail at the top of the edit window, telling you what class and method you're in. You can click on them to get a dropdown menu that lets you select other items at that level.

In undocked windows, you can click all you want on items in the breadcrumb trail or region list; you don't get a dropdown list. So you have to dock the file to the main window in order to use the breadcrumb trail.

I tried to reproduce this issue but not able to reproduce this. To reproduce this issue I have followed the instruction provided in bug description.

I observed that In undocked windows, user gets a drop down list and can click on all items in the breadcrumb trail or region list .
Please refer the screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/03zxSwdBxSU

Could you please provide us proper steps to reproduce and full environment info/Ide Logs ? Or please let me know that what I am missing to reproduce this issue, that would be very helpful to reproduce this issue at our end.

You can get Environment info via Xamarin Studio=>Abi=out Xamarin Studio=>Show
Details =>Copy Information

Ide logs via=>Help=>Open Log Directory=>Ide.log (Choose lates Time stamp)

Thanks..!

Yes, it works in the main window. When you undock files from the main window, it doesn't work in the secondary windows.

I've attached a screenshot and pointed out the controls that don't work.

What it looks like is when you click the dropdowns in secondary windows, it does actually show the menu, but it then immediately hides it.
Comment 5 Geoff Armstrong 2015-08-14 10:02:04 UTC
Do you need any more information before this bug can be taken out of "need info" status?
Comment 6 Rajneesh Kumar 2015-08-14 13:25:47 UTC
Hi Geoff,
I have checked this issue again and I am observing same behavior in both "Doc" and "Auto Hide". I am able to see the drop down list in both case.
Screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/LnpSf6Vobp

Please let me know that what I am still missing to reproduce this issue..? So that I can confirmed this issue.

Thanks..!
Comment 7 Geoff Armstrong 2015-08-17 13:50:56 UTC
What you are doing wrong is you're not undocking a tab and testing on the undocked tab.

What you need to do is:

1. Open AppDelegate.cs.
2. Open Main.cs.
3. Click on the Main.cs tab and drag it out so it becomes its own window.
4. There are now *two windows*. One with AppDelegate.cs and one with Main.cs.
5. On the Main.cs tab, test the operation of the dropdowns.

Step 3 is *critically important*. You'll notice that in my attached screenshot the controls I highlight as not working are on the secondary window, not on the primary window.
