Sample Code

Calling a method from one page through another. DisplayAlert gets called but never shows and also doesn't return back.

Tested on iPhone Simulator
Start up sample code
- hit button "testing button"
- hit button "Display Alert Other"
-> no Display Alert shows up
- hit button "Display Alert Base"
-> works as expected and shows both Display Alerts

Check Debug output for more info.

Seeing this bug too in Forms version on iOS only when displayalert is called from viewmodel. Any estimate on this being fixed?
Comment 3 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2015-08-12 10:50:37 UTC
This looks like a bug in Xamarin.Forms, so I'm reassigning. Please bounce back if I'm wrong.
Comment 4 Jimmy [MSFT] 2016-12-19 20:30:45 UTC
Issue is still reproducible with Forms 2.3.3 and 2.3.4-pre1

I don't get this. _otherPage has no Parent when you pop it from the navigation stack.

- hit button "testing button" (initializes _otherPage and pushes it on stack)
- hit button "Display Alert Other" (if you want to hit this button, you have to hit the Back button (or close) first which removes _otherPage from the stack)

When the page has no Parent, then it's not showing its alert window.

Am I not testing your repro properly or is your repro incorrect?
