Logs from my repo of the issue
From this desk case:
The component store's Estimote sample doesn't detect beacons. I was able to confirm this in my tests for both the Android & iOS versions of the component, whereas downloading the estimote app from the app store does detect the beacons as expected.
===Steps to reproduce===
iOS Sample: https://components.xamarin.com/view/estimotesdkios
Android Sample: https://components.xamarin.com/view/estimotesdk
1) Make sure you have a working Estimote beacon nearby.
2) Download the sample from the provided link.
3) Debug the app on a device with Bluetooth LTE active.
4) Tap "Distance Demo"
App should detect beacon and display a distance value.
App doesn't report detecting a beacon or distance.

Attaching logs from my reproduction of the issue.
I also noted the sample the customer sent appeared very similar to our own iOS sample, though was named 'estimotesdkios-2.4-3.0' instead of 'estimotesdkios-2.4.0' which is currently the only version shown here: https://components.xamarin.com/view/estimotesdkios. Based on the design it appears it was derived from 2.4.0 (or some other precursor version.)
Interestingly, this 2.4-3.0 version did seem to at least detect the proximity of the estimote but not the distance; which is what the customer is trying to do; grab the distance. Perhaps a version where the detection is fixed is already somewhere but not showing up in the store for some reason?
Even so, it's still not showing the distance; I'm checking with the customer to see if they might have found this 'version' of the sample elsewhere.
If the Estimote beacon has newer firmware then it won't be detected. Newer beacon firmware broke 2.4 and we are working on 3.x binding.
You only truely need the Estimote component if using stickers. If using just beacons try the core location API: https://github.com/xamarin/evolve-quest/blob/master/EvolveQuest.iOS/QuestViewController2.cs#L134-L142
We should 3.x binding soon though.
All of the components have been updated.
