Steps to reproduce:
Install Xamarin.iOS cee8090ff85f20881717d93e2c271dbf8aa3b715
Open any monotouch-sample project
Enable the checkbox "Use LLVM optimizing compiler" under iOS Build -> Advanced in project options
Build project for Release|iPhone

Actual Result: An error is thrown building
MTOUCH: error MT3001: Could not AOT the assembly '/Users/xamarinqa/GitRepo/monotouch-samples/HelloWorld_iPhone/obj/iPhone/Release/mtouch-cache/32/Build/Xamarin.iOS.dll'

Expected Result: project builds and deploys on device

Supplemental info: Xamarin.iOS bff596c9a00943be13f242799d395dee974108c1 works as expected

@Zoltan, can you have a look?

I can reproduce this in maccore/master by executing "make build-dev-monotouch-test CONFIG=Release" in maccore/tests:

> Mono Ahead of Time compiler - compiling assembly /work/maccore/master/maccore/tests/monotouch-test/obj/iPhone/ReleaseX/mtouch-cache/32/Build/Xamarin.iOS.dll
> * Assertion: should not be reached at ../../../../../mono/mono/mini/mini-llvm.c:1077
> %"System.Collections.Generic.KeyValuePair`2<TKey_REF, TValue_REF>" zeroinitializer

Fixed by the mono bump in mt master 6b8d015687b746d2332ac70a60037b67502eda61.
