Description Cunzhen WANG 2015-04-08 23:22:09 UTC
I git cloned a copy of QuickVB from quickvb.codeplex.com.

When I xbuilded it, System.Deployment and Microsoft.Build.Tasks showed up to be missing. I knew that was something that Mono didn't implement, but still fed it to Xamarin Studio so I could look at its code and read about it.

And here is the bug.

The QuickVB Solution consists of two parts: ConsoleGUI(C#) and QuickVB(VB), both targeting at v4.5 in their TargetFrameworkVersion property. But QuickVB failed to load with a ‘Project does not support framework “.NETFramework,Version=4.5”’ error. I manually edited the string to 4.5.1 and it loaded.

I think there is something to do with MonoDevelop, since xbuild did load the projects and tried to deal with the references.

It seems that System.Deployment was not actually used in the Project so I removed it from the reference list. I found something to use with the Build Tasks, and got bug #28914.
