When targeting only Retina devices, we use only @2x image resources.
We would expect iOS Designer to infer the width and height of the image correctly, so e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org (64x64 px) should show as 32x32 in the designer, as it would if icon.png (32x32 px) existed.
However, iOS Designer instead shows the image as 64x64 px.
This is only a design-time bug; in runtime the width and height is correct. Also, Xcode Interface Builder shows the correct size in design time.
Jose, we have unit tests on this area of code, so we should be able to add another test mocking this scenario to make sure we do the right thing.
Fixed in version 22.214.171.1249 (xs6-libgit2)
