The project was created using Xamarin Studio on Mac and seems to compile fine there.

Is there a way I can make this work when compiling with Visual Studio?

Deconstructing the command-line it seems the problem is the empty compiler switch:

What is supposed to go there?
Comment 2 Brendan Zagaeski (Xamarin Team, assistant) 2015-04-09 11:16:36 UTC
Support for iOS bindings projects in Visual Studio is a new feature starting in XamarinVS 3.11 (currently on the Alpha channel).

This bug was originally filed against XamarinVS 4.0 (C6), but that version has not been released yet, so I suspect the actual version might have been one of the XamarinVS 3.9 versions.

- Add your complete version information from "Help -> About Microsoft Visual Studio -> Copy Info" on this bug. (See also [1].)

- If you're already using XamarinVS 3.11, please attach the Diagnostic Build Output [2] for the project onto this bug report.

I can confirm the bug, but only for binding projects targeting Classic Api.
In our scenario, we have a binding project targeting classic that works on a mac but not from visual studio.
I was able to build the binding project when targeting Unified.
Hope that helps.

I'll mark the bug as resolved fixed based on Comments 2 and 3.
Please feel free to reopen it if you can still reproduce the issue with current bits.
