new XElement ((XName)"base").SetValue (new XElement ((XName)"hi"));

The above code should throw an 'ArgumentException'. You cannot call 'SetValue' and pass an 'XObject'. MS documents this too.

Now our System.Xml.Linq is referencesource based and it throws ArgumentException as expected here.
