Description Timo Suoranta 2011-12-25 18:20:35 UTC
On Mac MonoDevelop, page up and down keys work scroll the page without moving caret. This is consistent Mac experience. However, Option-Page Up (down) does not do anything. I would like these keys to scroll page and move the caret. Currently one has to use Shift-Page Up (down) to make a temporary selection. This helps to update the caret position, but the down side is that it messed up the current selection.

(Version is actually 2.8.5 but that was not given as option in Bugzilla)

FWIW the behaviour of the underlying command does not change on Mac, it's just that the Page Down/Up keys are bound to a different command - "Scroll page down/up". The behaviour you want is available in the keybindings editor as "Go down/up one page" and can be bound to any combination you like. However, if the binding you describe is common in Mac apps then we should certainly have it bound by default.

It's a mac specific behaviour - thanks for telling us about that.

I've checked other mac applications for the behaviour & implemented it.
