When migrating a project to the unified API, a dialog box pops up with "Object Reference not set to the Instance of an Object".
**Steps to Reproduce:**
Dialog box pops up with a NRE message in it.
**Build Date & Platform:**
Attached are the logs from a migration that failed with this message. In the logs is this message:
>Xamarin.VisualStudio.Shell.XamarinShellPackage Error: 0 : [2015-01-20 08:42:46.1] Background task error
>System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
> at Xamarin.InsightsCore.PlatformServices.<>c__DisplayClass4.<GetDeviceInfoData>b__3()
> at System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1.InnerInvoke()
> at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Execute()
We have tried to reproduce this issue several times but not able to reproduce. We are not getting any dialog box popup when migrating Classic API project to Unified API and project migrated successfully. May the developer will get some useful information from attached logs. leaving as New for now.
VS 2013 Update 4
XVS 3.9.236 and XVS 3.9.278
I've reproduced the issue on our project. Than I've attached the VS debugger to the VS instance with the project and could localize the part of the code, which causes the exception.
In my case, the exception is thrown while processing of a statement containing a class with fully qualified name (including a namespace), like System.DateTime.Now. After removing of the namespace (import it with using directive), the migration is successful for that file.
So, here are the steps to reproduce:
1. Create an iPhone Classic project.
2. Write in any method the next line:
var d = System.DateTime.Now;
3. Try to migrate the project to Xamarin.iOS Unified API.
The migration will be interrupted on the changed file with message "Object Reference not set to the Instance of an Object".
I hope this helps you to fix the exception. Until that I need to correct the code to get rid of the error.
I have followed steps mentioned in Comment#2, I am also not able to reproduce this Issue. This is the screencast for the same: http://www.screencast.com/t/UAUxAPTr

@Eugene, Could you please provide me test project and build info?
It seems it has been fixed with XVS 3.9.289, because I couldn't reproduce it after update. But I've checked again, it is still reproducing on XVS 3.9.236.
As per Comment 4 resolving this report as Fixed.
