Description leonard.kleinhans42+xamarin 2014-11-27 16:16:20 UTC
Pinning to older version in sources.list files as described here (http://www.mono-project.com/docs/getting-started/install/linux/#accessing-older-releases) results in

W: Conflicting distribution: http://download.mono-project.com wheezy/snapshots/3.8.0 InRelease (expected wheezy/snapshots but got wheezy)
Comment 1 johan.karlsson 2015-05-22 15:18:57 UTC
A workaround is to add /. to the end of the distribution, so the line in sources.list looks similar to

deb http://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian wheezy/snapshots/3.12.0/. main
Comment 2 Shrayas R 2015-12-09 10:25:37 UTC
The fix of add /. to the end works for `3.12.0` but doesn't work when I try to pin to `4.0.5`.

Any idea why?

I actually have no clue why it stopped working, but I found that writing it like

deb http://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian wheezy/snapshots 4.0.5/main

seems to work :)

Johan's workaround doesn't for me on Ubuntu Xenial. I tried all of these combinations to reference

deb "https://download.mono-project.com/repo/ubuntu" xenial/snapshots/ main

deb "https://download.mono-project.com/repo/ubuntu" xenial/snapshots/ main

deb "https://download.mono-project.com/repo/ubuntu" xenial/snapshots
